Pricing and Inventory Automation with XML and Microsoft Excel for LocationStore / Dearman Ventures

LocationStore was an online GPS retailer owned by Dearman Ventures.

Part of the job required reviewing the wholesale pricing of products from three different wholesalers. This job, originally done manually, was time consuming. In order to make the task of updating product pricing and inventory easier, a series of scripts and formulas were used. Those scripts and formulas accomplished the following:

  • Download CSV pricing and inventory lists from wholesalers
  • Convert CSV files to XML and associate with XSD files
  • Import data into Microsoft Office Excel
  • Review product availability
  • Update available products on web site
  • Review product pricing
  • Update product pricing on web site
