ABC News Local is beginning its transition to ABC News with the major/minor 0.2 release of the Boxee application.
ABC News provides the top stories from local ABC Owned and Operated stations, just like before, but now also offers top stories from ABC News. This release also provides a new design and layout. This new design will allow for the planned feature of being able to narrow down news to specific categories.
I am very proud to announce the beta release of an app I’ve been working on for less than a week: ABC News Local.
ABC News Local brings you local news videos from ABC Owned and Operated (O&O) Stations from across the country. You can now get the top news stories from major cities in the US right on Boxee.
After feeling pretty confident getting a Boxee RSS App working, I figured I’d take on something a little more daunting: creating a Boxee Python App.
I decided to do an ABC News app after seeing ABC 7 News in the App Box. Since ABC 7 an Owned and Operated (O&O) affilate, this would give me a wonderful starting point. I figured if this is able to play video just fine on one of the O&O affiliates, it should work fine on all the others since they’re all the same design and layout (just about).
